Used Car Safety Ratings
It is wise to go through the safety ratings of any used car you are opting to buy, be it that age old Toyota Corolla or any of those secondhand cars on offer under the ‘buy Japanese cars for sale’ banner. As far as sources for these ratings are concerned, looking for the self-regulating and unbiased agencies is better recommended. This will let you have a fair idea of how safe your driving experience is going to be with that particular car. Over the time, there have been a lot of used cars for sale on the web, for instance, that buy Japanese cars for sale ad is pretty common these days on every second website you visit. Before you fall for any trap, consider the safety ratings.
What basically are these ratings? These are the official tests and examination of how well the car is capable to deal the tough situations like fierce accidents. Some cars are high on the ratings because they in fact got just a little damage in a much serious accident. Those low on the ratings may get serious damage to the engine, body of the car, and in effect the driver even in the cases of mild crashes. Quite surprisingly, those on the extreme low spectrum of the ratings may get reduced to wreckage in an event of some accidents. Astonishing, isn’t it?
The safety ratings for brand-new and used cars aren’t an entirely different phenomenon. Basically, when you are looking for the ratings for the used cars, probability is high that you will have to consider the ratings of the brand new car of the same model. This is on account of the fact that there is no exact measure of what a “used” car is- the usage could range from one day to ten years, however, a new car could be tested right after the purchase and a uniform way of ratings could be maintained. This would also be much easier to compare with the other models. Some sources on the web claims to have published the authentic ratings and you are ought to go through them.
Unclaimed Vehicles from the Earthquake Stolen and Smuggled Overseas
It is very gruesome to find out that some ruthless people have taken advantage of the horrible earthquake that killed and affected thousands of people in the country of Japan, which has worked its way with hard work and dedication to being a developed country. Japan was at the top in development and in every industry and the country was thriving until the horrible earthquake shook its territory with very high magnitude. The affects of the earthquake on the people only were very terrifying and so, the discovery that some people are actually stealing cars of the affected people to smuggle overseas looks really disgusting. In spite of being bad, however, it is not something novel and it happens actually in every kind of disaster. It is as if the looters around the world sit and wait for such situations to occur which would make things a lot easier for them.
After the March 11 earthquake in Japan, some people stole the damaged cars which could have been repaired easily and shipped them abroad. They took the cars apart into pieces and smuggled to foreign countries where they would have re-assembled them and sold them with high profit margins. People don’t usually enjoy such high profit margins everyday and it is only in such situations that they get to take advantage. With more than 100 cars stolen, they would certainly have earned a lot of profit by selling the cars in their own countries.
The people who had their cars stolen did not report to the authorities since they were busy mourning over the earthquake and the loss of bigger things and so, did not find it appropriate to fuss over their cars. This was the reason why the smugglers took advantage with courage and confidence as they knew it would be unlikely for them to get caught and that nobody in such trauma would pay attention to car smugglers. However, now that this issue has been discovered, the police have become very serious and are investigating the issue. Maybe in a short time, they will arrest the culprits as they should be punished for their ruthless crime.
Perfect Road Trip Roads in Japan
Finding The Perfect Road Trip Roads in Japan
If you are planning to go on a road trip in Japan, then there are a few things you need to know as a foreigner in Japan. First of all, cars in Japan are right hand drive so if you are from a country like the United States, you will have to practice first once you arrive in Japan. Getting used to driving on the left side of the road but seated on the right side of the car can be confusing and disorienting at first.
Most of roads in Japan are exceptionally well-made. Of course, with the massive destruction from the May earthquake and tsunami, some of these major thoroughfares and smaller roads are still being rebuilt. You will need to find out the best roads to pass either before you leave your home or once you get to Japan.
If you are thinking of opting out for a bus ride instead of driving, think again. The bus service is excellent in major cities but can be unreliable once you get to the provincial roads and highways. That being said, you will need to be at least 18 years old with an international driver’s license from a country following the 1949 Geneva Convention guidelines. Also, you should stick to major roads and highways because the inner streets can be hard to maneuver around since they tend to be on the narrow side.
A road trip for cars in Japan is also better done off the urban areas especially in the commercial or business districts. Traffic is a major problem and it could waste a good part of your day. Also, there is a strange custom among Japanese drivers to speed up when the traffic light is turning red and partially block traffic by parking too far away from curb. There are also a large number of cyclists although many of them tend to stick to the wrong side of the road.
Thus, the perfect road for a car trip would be away from the city but not along side streets.
